A Good Start for Women in Football

It is now the middle of September. People have returned from their holidays and the students and pupils are back at university and school. Perhaps, even more important for many people is the fact that the football season is well underway. This year it got off to a good start for women as we saw thirty-five year old Stephanie Fruppert officiating the UEFA Super Cup. Stephanie is the very first woman referee to do this.

I will always remember when I wrote in Unit 6 of The Verb To Be of Football that women would become more important in football. I was laughed at, but now this is happening.

Congratulations to all those women footballers who follow their dreams and fight for them to come true. I take my hat off to you!
